The majority of bedroom cabinet furniture being used and supplied into care homes today is made with laminate wood effect finished MDF or chipboard. This is both practical and easy to maintain, but because it is a wood effect finish, it is commonly the case that cleaning staff attempt to clean laminate furniture with furniture polish – it is also common that they complain about it going white and streaky on the surface!
Why not Furniture Polish?
Most furniture polishes on the market are wax based chemicals designed specifically for cleaning actual wood products. If it is actual wooden bedroom furniture that you have, then furniture polish does a great job. However, whether it is wood or laminate furniture, furniture polish does not sanitise, and it contains no disinfecting properties.
What does Spearhead recommend?
As part of our unique Platinum Cleaning Plan, Spearhead recommend a daily cleaning routine of laminate bedroom furniture using our Platinum Cleaner Disinfectant. This product is suitable for cleaning all laminate surfaces, furniture, beds, equipment and door handles, but not only this, it complies with British Stand EN1276, meaning it is tested to kill 99.999% of bacteria.
