There are two types of flooring in a care home – carpet and vinyl – and both require a different approach given the environment they are being used in, as outlined below:
Impervious Backed Carpets
There are many and varied choices of carpets cleaners, ranging from the conventional vacuum cleaner through to high cost steam cleaning items.
Due to the nature of substances that end up on carpets in care homes, a cleaning machine that has the ability to extract these substances from the pile of a carpet is necessary.
Spearhead’s Hydromist Extraction Carpet Shampooer with its unique roller extraction facility, is able to fully extract all substances from the carpet fibres thereby removing offensive-odour producing bacteria and stains.
Vinyl Safety Flooring
Conventional mopping achieves a certain amount of cleanliness when cleaning vinyl safety flooring, but its level of effectiveness can be down to the quality of cleaning chemicals being used.
Typically, over time vinyl flooring can become ingrained with dirt which is not removed by the mopping process.
To achieve truly effective cleaning of vinyl safety floors and maintain their appearance from new, we recommend our Multiwash Scrubber/Drier machine, which utilises rotating brushes to clean out all forms of dirt and bacteria from vinyl flooring, leaving it in gleaming condition!
