A term commonly used in relation to furniture made for care homes is contract specification – but what does it mean?
Contract specification is basically differentiating from retail specification. The following are standard features of our furniture which is what effectively qualifies it as contract specification:
In contrast, retail furniture is made with 6mm flimsy hardboard backs and has wooden drawer boxes as standard. This is acceptable in someone’s private home, but does not stand up to the constant use expected in a care home environment.
Rounded tops are another important feature on our furniture in contrast to square edged tops on retail furniture. Elderly and frail residents are more at risk of hurting themselves if they fall against a square edged top, whereas rounded tops reduce the risk of injury if fallen against.
Locks Quoted as standard for the top drawer of bedside cabinets, but also available for other drawers and doors if required.
To demonstrate the confidence we have in our ‘contract specification’ furniture, we back it up with a 5 Year Guarantee.
